Name: Fibromyalgia

Alternate Names: Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), FM

Associated Anatomy: Skeletal Muscle, Joints, Tendons and Soft Tissues.

Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

Sign or Symptoms:

Individuals suffering from fibromyalgia suffer from widespread musculoskeletal pain, painful joints, sleep disturbances, depression, fatigue, and gastrointestinal problems.

Treating Fibromyalgia or Treatment of Fibromyalgia

Possible Treatment:

The pain and activity intolerance associated with FM leaves patients extremely fatigued and unable to engage in regular exercise. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) prepares patients to be active participants in the maintenance of their disease process by promoting new cell growth and increased strength for improved movement of joints and muscles. HBOT stimulates the growth of new vessels with increased oxygenation delivery and blood flow to the muscles. The overall decrease in pain and improvement in mobility provides patients with the sustained energy required to perform their activities of daily living.
